Dr. Michael Sotiriou
Board-certified Dermatologist in Salt Lake City
Michael Sotiriou MD is a board-certified, residency-trained dermatologist and Mohs surgeon. A Salt Lake native, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison where he received his B.S. in Neurobiology. He returned home to attend medical school at the University of Utah obtaining his Doctorate of Medicine, followed by a medical-surgical internship at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. He completed his residency at one of the oldest and most prestigious dermatology programs in the country, the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he was elected by his peers and departmental faculty to serve as Chief Resident.
Dermatology Industry Leadership
After residency, Dr. Michael Sotiriou was recruited to Dermatology + Aesthetics in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, a premier cosmetic practice affiliated with Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was a member of the Northwestern Medicine Physician Network. It was at D+A where he honed his cosmetic skills while serving a diverse patient population in metropolitan Chicago.
While working at D+A, Dr. Michael Sotiriou had the privilege of training with two world renowned Chicago-based Mohs micrographic surgeons: Dr. Aleksandar Krunic, who is an international lecturer and double fellowship trained Mohs surgeon, and Dr. JC Lapiere who was Northwestern Dermatology’s Mohs fellowship director for a decade, and now runs a busy skin cancer clinic performing thousands of cases each year. In October 2021, Dr. Michael Sotiriou passed the first ever administration of the American Board of Dermatology’s Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery subspecialty certification exam. He is honored to be a member of the inaugural class of board-certified Mohs surgeons.

Dr. Sotiriou’s Expertise
Dr. Michael Sotiriou is passionate about the prevention, early detection, and medical and surgical management of skin cancer. He is an advocate for each of his patients, treating an array of dermatologic conditions including: psoriasis, teenage, adult, and female hormonal acne, rosacea, and non-invasive mole monitoring. Dr. Michael Sotiriou enjoys helping his patients improve the overall tone and texture of their skin so that they feel confident, youthful, and healthy. Understanding that everyone has unique and specific needs, Dr. Michael Sotiriou will develop tailored treatment plans utilizing topical products, microneedling, laser procedures, and injectables such as Botox®, Dysport®, and fillers to achieve preventative and rejuvenating results.
Dr. Sotiriou’s Personal Life
Dr. Michael Sotiriou is an avid outdoorsman, spending his time skiing, fly fishing, mountain biking, hiking, and being bossed around on his in-law’s ranch. He is a gardener and plays competitive tennis and golf. In addition to outdoor activities, he and his wife enjoy cooking elaborate meals with friends and family, exploring new restaurants, and traveling near and far.
